In 2026 the market has five main electricity contract types: spot, fixed-term, hybrid, Jousto and ongoing. In this article we go through every type and explain who each one suits.

1. Spot electricity

Price follows the Nord Pool market in 15-minute or hourly precision. Provider adds margin (0.3–0.8 c/kWh) and a monthly fee.

Examples: Luotsi Pörssisähkö (0.34 c/kWh), Cheap Pörssisähkö (0.39 c/kWh, 6-month fee-free), Hehku Pörssi (0.39 c/kWh).

2. Fixed-term

c/kWh price locked for 6, 12, 24 or 36 months.

Examples: Cheap Määräaikainen 24 kk (8.49 c/kWh), Hehku Kiinteä 6 kk (7.98 c/kWh + €3.90/mo).

3. Hybrid

Combines fixed and spot. Typically 50 % each.

Examples: Fortum Duo 12 kk (8.79 c/kWh), Fortum Duo 24 kk (8.29 c/kWh, 3-month fee-free), Oomi Sesonki 12 kk (winter fixed, summer spot).

4. Jousto / consumption effect

A newer type that rewards steady consumption. Base price + a consumption-effect multiplier from your usage profile against Nord Pool hours.

Examples: Hehku Jousto 24 kk (7.49 c/kWh base), Oomi Jousto 6 kk (7.69 c/kWh, fee-free switch right to fixed within 6 months).

5. Ongoing contract

No fixed term, cancel any time. Provider can change price with 30-day notice.

Examples: Aalto Tyyni Vakiohinta (5.99 c/kWh + €2.99/mo), Aalto Kuukausihinta (6.49 c/kWh), Hehku Jatkuva (8.09 c/kWh).
